Masculine stars & stripes

My entry for the current CASE challenge .  I do apologise for the appalling lighting - it is a very bright and cheerful card, honest!  5.00pm and it's now completely dismal & dark outside, ho hum.

I have several male birthdays approaching & this CAS challenge fitted the bill nicely.  I used the little star stamp from the Pennant Parade set & the sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set (Hostess exclusive).  I've used this stamp set loads - it's great for masculine cards & adding a greeting inside cards.

CPS 252

Based on this week's sketch from CPS.  I glued the 3 panels together before running them thro' the BigShot in an embossing folder.  Even though it's for a man's 40th I added a bit of glitter by heat embossing the 40 with gold and silver embossing powders. Well you've got to make a bit of a fuss for a 40th!

Monochromatic

This week's CAS challenge is to use only black & white to celebrate Penguin Awareness Day (yes really! Apparently it falls on 20 January)

Anyhow, as colour was out of the question, I opted for texture & a wee bit of bling!

JAI Butterflies

Another card based on this week's JAI sketch and the lovely pastel colour combo of pale pink, yellow & neutral from CR84FN

I was having a tidy up and found a pack of gorgeous patterned paper (from where I know not, sorry!).  A bit of paper punching, a sprinkling of Dazzling Diamonds glitter & a couple of embossed butterflies.

Masculine Birthday Presents

Using the JAI sketch for inspiration

and colours (red, olive, kraft & ivory) from Color Throwdown.  I thought these colours were more ideally suited for a man & I need to top up my stash of masculine cards.

The "Happiest Birthday Wishes" stamp set is a hostess exclusive - it really is great for CAS & masculine cards.  I stamped the presents in versamark first, followed by Real Red.  This meant I could then clear emboss the image. The overall effect is therefore "shimmery", for want of a better word, to go with the olive green card blank & inset ivory card with the presents image which are also shimmery!

I used the Real Red spotty DSP to highlight the spotty present (mind you I could equally have used the striped DSP to match the other presents but I definitely have a thing for spots ...)

Henry's Birthday

A birthday card for my son (gosh the last 11 years have flown by! One more birthday & he'll be a teenager EEK).

Based on the sketch from Skipping Stones Design

and the colour combo from ColourQ

I thought the colour combo was great for a masculine card.  Having said that, I put greater emphasis on the red and blue and left the purples for the present images!  Apologies for the rather dull lighting, I had to make the card late at night after work and various football training sessions -  daylight hours had long since gone.  As it was for a boy, I scored several lines under the sentiment in place of my usual ribbon decorations!

I kept with a circular/dotty theme using circle punches, dotty embossing folder & dotty present images.  I did use Crystal Effects to highlight the razzleberry dots on the presents, not sure that it comes out v clearly in the photo though.
