Background stamping

Based on sketch #114 at Skipping Stones Design and the colour combo of grey, lavender and chartreuse at CR84FN.

I didn't have any patterned paper in this colour way, so I went ahead and made my own!  Incredibly easy to do.  I chose the For Everything stamp set.  I only wanted the end swirls and dots from the stamp (shown in photo) so just stamped the end of the stamp with the ink pads.  This stamp set also includes a mini flower stamp which I used once I had enough swirls.

A few pointers to bear in mind if you fancy trying this technique:
-have some rough paper underneath so you can stamp over the edges (looks more natural)
- rotate your paper as you stamp for a random effect
- works best with a maximum of 3 colours (otherwise looks too busy)
- if you want a multi-toned effect, stamp 3 times in succession without re-inking for lighter tones

The advantage with Stampin' Up products is they have inks and card that colour match perfectly. So by stamping your own patterned paper, you are guaranteed an end project that's completely colour co-ordinated.

Thanks for popping by!
